Pregnancy is a beautiful time to begin or reignite a yoga practice. Labor and delivery is a full body workout. Strengthen and condition your body in preparation for childbirth through sitting, standing and balancing postures – all safe for any trimester.
Our practice begins with a time of sharing with other moms and ends with a final relaxation bonding with your baby to be. Appropriate for new moms just easing back into their practice. All levels welcome. Please register early as space is limited.
Chair Yoga for Seniors
Chair Yoga is a version of yoga that was developed by Lakshmi Voelker in 1982. It is practiced sitting on a chair, or simply standing with a chair for support. The chair poses are adaptations of the yoga poses that are traditionally done on the mat.
These adaptations make yoga accessible to individuals who are unable to benefit from a traditional style or for someone who is looking for a gentler practice. The poses are explained step by step, including levels of movement from low level to a full expression of the pose. Chair yoga includes breath work which can help individuals with stress management and also coping with and managing pain.
Regardless of your age, activity level or physical challenge, chair yoga is an effective and gentle way to improve your strength and flexibility in a way that can compliment your current medical interventions, therapies and exercises.
Comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement is recommended. Once you are seated on you chair, shoes are optional.
Community Garden Club
Stay tuned for more information about upcoming events! Our plan is to learn from elders in our community with a variety of workshops. Some of the topics we hope to host are how to grow a backyard garden in raised beds, how to jar and can some fruits and veggies (like tomatoes!), how to grow herbs and how to use them medicinally, and so much more! If you are an “elder in our community” and want to help contribute, please call our office today!
